- Čak više nego ranije. Ali, sad sam toliko umoran, mnoge sam zaboravio...

- Ali to je tako. Sve blijedi, nestaje, u jasnom svijetlu vječnog optimizma... Sve, osim samog sunca, koje na kraju jedino ostaje.
- Pa to je govorio i Konvični.
- Da?
- Kako je Parmenid opisivao kako je sve jedno, a to jedno je zapravo Sunce, i sve dolazi iz Sunca.
- ....
- Da.
Dida Tomo se našao tijekom obiteljskog reuniona pozvanim da mi prenosi svoje životne mudrosti.
- Moj Vilenjače, tvoja majka je zabrinuta jer nisi oženjen. Ali ništa ne brini. Tako i treba, nemoj do pedesete. Ali zato nemoj niti jednoj oprostiti... lijepe, ružne, sve je to dobro. Kad ševiš ove ružne činiš bogu ugodno djelo, provali i nastavi:
- Tako jednom ja, kod nas dole u starom kraju, kad sam bio mlad, naiđem u polje kod Mare. A njoj bangavi kukovi. Kad god krene, noga joj ide gore ili dolje. I ja ju povalim tamo na polju, skinem gaće, a ono čupa kao griva u konja vranca. Uzbudim se i izjebem je dobro, a ona sretna, presretna, kaže uzmi Tomo šta ti je drago.
- Uzmem šunku. Nosim kući i krenem jesti. Dođe pokojni otac i kaže - šta to jedeš, crni sine. Šunku tata, šunku, odgovorim. Lijenčino, pa nisi je na kurcu zaradio, kaže on, a ja - jesam tata, na kurcu.
Tri je dana kod mene boravio ne tako mladi HongKonžanin.
Njegova je životna priča vrlo neobična. Napustio je rodni grad zaključivši da su se tamo spojile najgore osobine kapitalizma i komunizma. Doktorirao je informacijske znanosti u Britaniji. Radio na 4 kontinenta - u Engleskoj, Kanadi, Kostarici, Južnoafričkoj Republici.
Svjetska kriza ga je ostavila bez posla... na cjedilu... taman kad se ufurao u gotičku scenu u Johanesburgu. Potresen, krenuo je auto stopom u srce Afrike. U Ruandi je ponudio vladi pomoć u razvoju IT industrije. Oženio se, iz ljubavi, pa razveo, iz razočarenja.
Sestra ga je dovukla na Tajland... gdje je okušao sreću kao farmer. Nije uspjelo. Preselio se u San Francisko. Tamo, u apeksu svjetske krize, 6 mjeseci nije pronalazio adekvatno zaposlenje, pa se drugi put uputio autostopom po svijetu, te tako stigao i ovdje, na Balkan.
U čudu sam odslušao njegovu priču, i zdvojan ga odveo na piće u Mediku. Kad tamo - gle čuda - Kinez je uskoro postao zvijezda dana. Njegov je zarazni osmijeh privukao staro i mlado, muško i žensko. Uskoro je našao zgodnu domaćicu pa se odselio od mene. Kako je njegovo ime neizgovorljivo - najzgodnija ga je mala prozvala "Marko".
Dugo sam razmišljao o njegovom osmijehu i mojoj smrknutosti.

Love is never a relationship; love is relating. It is always a river, flowing, unending. Love knows no full stop; the honeymoon begins but never ends. It is not like a novel that starts at a certain point and ends at a certain point. It is an ongoing phenomenon. Lovers end, love continues– it is a continuum. It is a verb, not a noun.
And why do we reduce the beauty of relating to relationship? Why are we in such a hurry? Because to relate is insecure, and relationship is a security. Relationship has a certainty; relating is just a meeting of two strangers, maybe just an overnight stay and in the morning we say goodbye. Who knows what is going to happen tomorrow? And we are so afraid that we want to make it certain, we want to make it predictable. We would like tomorrow to be according to our ideas; we don't allow it freedom to have its own say. So we immediately reduce every verb to a noun.
You are in love with a woman or a man and immediately you start thinking of getting married. Make it a legal contract. Why? How does the law come into love? The law comes into love because love is not there. It is only a fantasy, and you know the fantasy will disappear. Before it disappears settle down, before it disappears do something so it becomes impossible to separate.
In a better world, with more meditative people, with a little more enlightenment spread over the earth, people will love, love immensely, but their love will remain a relating not a relationship. And I am not saying that their love will be only momentary. There is every possibility their love may go deeper than your love, may have a higher quality of intimacy, may have something more of poetry and more of godliness in it. And there is every possibility their love may last longer than your so-called relationship ever lasts. But it will not be guaranteed by the law, by the court, by the policeman. The guarantee will be inner. It will be a commitment from the heart, it will be a silent communion.
